We are Well Underway

Last week we;

. introduced devices into the classroom. We became familiar with the Kapeka Learning Site that can help us with online learning. 

. started Handwriting, Story Telling and Writing in our books.

. had swimming lessons everyday with Learn2swim instructors.

. had our first visit to the Library.

Room 17 have been super organised making sure they have a drink bottle, kai haurora in desk, hat, mask and swimming togs all set to go before the 8:55 am bell! Tu Meke!

Ideas for kai hauora - boiled egg, sandwich, naan bread, banana, crackers/cheese, carrot and hummus, nuts, mashed egg in small container etc

Room 17's First Week!

 We're back to School! We're wearing masks all day in the classroom except for when eating or being active. Every child did so well following these mask rules this week with all children wearing a mask. We had mask breaks, swimming and fitness to help us get used to this :)

This week we;

. made sure we were organised before 9am with drink bottle, mask, carb snack and hat all in or on our desk.

. sorted our stationery

. learned some R17 routines

. had daily fitness and swimming fun time in the pool

. started to work in our Writing and Reading book

. found out some history about the TREATY of WAITANGI

. begun our class novel, 'Gangsta Granny Strikes Again'.

. had our first UMS Sport Time on Friday afternoon

It was a super positive start to our year! 

We Won!

 Before Lockdown it was Bookweek. There was a school class competition to create a window display based on a book theme. We were reading THE IRONMAN by Ted Hughes so we decided to design and create our own IRON people/animals. Some us created an Iron dog, lady, robot, dragon and man. We used foil, wire, boxes, masking tape and glue to make our designs. The judges walked around the school and chose the best window display in each syndicate and we won! We all received a bookmark, pencil and lollipop for our efforts.

Lockdown in Level 3 - Room 17 are Rocking It!

This week Room 17 have been completing the Daily Tracker to let me know that they have completed a Reading, Writing and Maths Activity each day. 

Miss Evans set us a 'Fitness Challenge' for the week. We had to create an obstacle course in our backyard and try to time ourselves completing this. Look at some of the videos we recorded!

Today we had a Whole Class Meet. Miss Evans organised a Lockdown Kahoot with general questions and answers from our Blog posts and Meets. Lily was first place, Owen was second and Hazel was third. 

We also had our first Room 17 Lockdown Awards! Eveyone was awarded an award for something special they did, for example Best Blogger, Most Improved Blog Commenter, Best Meet Hairstyles and being first to email Miss Evans with their Fitness Challenge Obstacle Course video.
