The end of our year is near :(

 Room 17 has been busy this term! After farewelling our awesome, sporty Student Teacher many of us were involved in the Primary Schools Gymnastics Competition, Duathlon, Speech writing and presenting, Digitial Learning with Sharon, Chch Symphony Orchestra visit, Sport with Nick, Buddy Reading, Athletics Day, Zones, Kapa Haka, Kiwi Competitions, Jump Jam and so much more. Look at some our photos! We have some fun activities planned for the last few days including a day at Jellie Park Pool, Class Party, Class Auction to spend our Emoji Money and swimming everyday in our large school pool. Mrs McLaughin is going to be sad to say goodbye to her class on Monday after our Prize Giving. Congratulations to any Room 17 children who get an award :)

My Awesome Biteable

 Kia ora Blogging World!

In cybersmart we have been learning about commenting. We have also been learning how to use a new tool called Biteable. 

Biteable is a cool video that you can make little movies on. You have to put in your own words over the template you've chosen.

This is my example biteable that I used to show the students how to create it, download it and put it on your blog. It isn't finished. 

Here are some example questions we used for our individual blogs: Do you like it? Is there anything I could do to improve it? Did it help you learn about commenting?

Perhaps you could head to the student's individual blogs and check out what they have put together and comment on their blogs. 

FIrst Place!

Room 17 participated in a Canterbury Schools' Sumdog Maths Competition three weeks ago. ZHIBANG CHENG placed FIRST out of 22 Schools. He had the highest accuracy after completing 1000 questions! 

We wrote a report about Martin Luther King which will be shared at Parent Interviews soon!

After a term of focused and interesting learning we made chicken and corn soup and marshmellow to finish the term.

Loving our Learning

Wow! We have been learning about so much! Our class novel, 'Once' by Morris Gleitzman, set in World War 2 is about a boy who is Jewish, his parents have left him in an Orphanage in Poland. He escapes to try and find his parents. The story is about suvival, being brave and his story. We have also been learning about Anne Frank and her life in isolation, hiding during World War 2. Today we have joined a Canterbury Sumdog Competition. We are competing against 21 classes over the next week. Go Room 17!

We are back! Learning at School in Level 2

We are are back! We arrived at school excited to see our friends and a little nervous about what school will be like in Level 2. After a chat about staying safe at school, we shared some of our best lockdown moments including our most annoyingest! School went on like normal, fitness, class novel and we started a new online maths programme. It's fun to be back!

Week 5 in Lockdown 3 ....nearly Level 2

This week of Learning at home ended on Friday with Shylah, closely followed by Kaiden and Josh winning the Class Sumdog Maths Competition. This competition lasted all week. It was a race to see who could complete the most maths activities on Sumdog. We had a Google Meet on Monday, Mrs McLaughlin started the meet with a game of 'Who Am I'? The children worked it out by asking questions and guessing in the chat box. Zhibang was right in the end with guessing it was the PINK PANTHER. We like to watch Pink Panther on wet days while we eat our lunch inside the classroom. More children were commenting on Blogs this week after a chat about how to comment, positive, thoughtful and helpful. At our Google Meet on Thursday, we played 'Where Am I'? and had to guess where Mrs McLaughlin was. After a long time trying to guess, we found out she was on the ROOF. After our Meet she ended up getting stuck up! Eventually she found a way to get down! We find out on Monday when we are going back to school. We may have one more week of Learning at Home, we have got this!
